Doobie Brothers' Tom Johnston, Boz Scaggs to Perform at Tom Petty Tribute in San Francisco

A new installment of the long-running series of Tom Petty tribute shows known as Petty Fest is set to take place at San Francisco’s Fillmore theater on February 27. Doobie Brothers frontman Tom Johnston, Boz Scaggs and ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum are among the many musicians set to perform tunes from Petty’s expansive catalog at the concert.

Other entertainers on the bill include Father Guido Sarducci, The Strokes‘ Nick Valensi, Butch Walker, Jesse Malin and Har Mar Superstar, as well as many surprise guests. All of the proceeds raised from tickets sales will go toward the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and the charity’s Musicians Cancer Fund.

This will mark the first time that the event will be held in San Francisco. Since 2007, Petty Fests have been scheduled annually in New York City, while the first Los Angeles edition of the show took place this past November 14 and 15 at the El Rey Theater.
