Dylan Fest 2013 - Dublin
The concert series that began 10 years ago to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 60th birthday in a tiny NYC bar is still going strong. Best Fest has booked its first show overseas with next month’s Dylan Fest Dublin. The lineup includes The Strokes’ Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., Travis’ Fran Healy and Boz Scaggs.
Ireland’s debut Dylan Fest is set for Aug. 9 at The Academy, with Cabin Down Below Band as your host. Additional acts who will be playing Dylan’s tunes all night long include Bell X1’s Paul Noonan, Gemma Hayes, Jape, Conor & Neil Adams from Cast of Cheers, Butch Walker, James Vincent McMorrow, Heathers, Cathy Davey, Gavin Friday, Ruby Amanfu, Jerry Fish and Danny Masterson. Best Fest promises there will also be “many surprises.
Sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey, Best Fest has been described by the New York Times as “one of the most jubilant events of the year” and by Rolling Stone as “an experience that is equal parts concert and celebration.” Along with events paying tribute to Dylan’s catalog, Best Fest also puts on festivals devoted to Tom Petty and The Rolling Stones.
Upcoming events include Petty Fest Nashville on Sept. 21 as part of Music City Eats Festival. Details about Petty Fest Austin are yet to come.
Tickets for Dylan Fest Dublin are available now. All proceeds benefit Sweet Relief and the Sweet Relief Musician Fund, which provides financial assistance to musicians in need.
